Do You Own Your Business?
One of the first things we ask entrepreneurs is, “Do you own your business?” The response is usually, “Of course I do!” However, starting a business is not the same as owning a business. Most business owners cannot tell you their “owner intent” or stated another way, the outcome they ultimately hope for with their business.
We learned early on that you own your business once it can operate day-to-day without you. Until then, you run a business, and your business owns you. We developed a mantra that helped us “Own Not Run” and we believe this can help you too.
